Column Width

Hi guys

Watching videos at your channel at YouTube - great learning tool! Have a minor question - when I am trying to adjust column width at worksheets by pointing mouse between column letters (in A1 ref style) - it doesn't change from Thick downward Arrow to Vertical bar with small horizontal arrows. Is it something in my computer or deliberate or some glitch?

Hi Yury - Modano needs to capture changes to column widths, and it's very difficult to do this when they are made by dragging using the mouse.

So, for the time being, changes to column widths on sheets containing module components must be made using either shortcut keys or the right-click menu item as Lance has stated.

At some stage we'll look at reinstating the Excel mouse drag-based approach, but it's not currently a high priority. We also find most Modano users like to set their column widths to specific sizes, which is easier via the Column Width dialog anyway.

Hi Michael,

I think Yury is on-point here, but I started writing this before his post so I'll post it anyway...

I'm confused by what you mean by 'summary report tab' and 'entire report section'...

On non-time series sheets, Modano adds some smarts to column width setting by allowing all the columns within a period titles block to be set at the same time, and across all identical time series sheets, which is evidenced by the Time Series Column Width dialog shown below:

On non-time series sheets, you should be able to set the column width of any column independently just like in Excel (only without the drag-resize method). Personally, I set the columns either by right-clicking on the column header (as shown above) and clicking the Column Width menu item, or using the Excel 2003 shortcut Alt+O+C+W. The Home tab shortcut is Alt+H+O+W.
