I recently begun using Modano software for various purposes in my own business and have begun to develop a real appreciation for and interest in financial modelling.
Having finalised the sale documents for my business, I can't help but think that a career on modelling is something I would really enjoy and thrive in. However I come from a legal/operations background and have no 'finance specific' training or qualifications.. I am highly analytical and commercially minded and believe that with the right resources I could become an excellent modeller.
I was hoping that those of you with experience in the area could share some advice on:
- How someone from a non-finance background can break in to a career in financial modelling (i.e. getting the job)
- How to progress in the field and develop excellent modelling skills (i.e. once in the job)
- Anything specific to getting a job at Modano (I see real potential in this software and would love to join the team) or contacts you might have there
